Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are aimed towards each student’s personal achievement in mind. Personal goals, such as weight loss, fitness or self-defense, will be taken into consideration when you sign up. Our classes are a great way to practice real techniques while strengthening your mind and body. Students will see improvements not only physically, but also mentally as they incorporate Jiu-Jitsu into their lifestyle.Gi classes follow the traditional style of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in that the Gi Kimono is utilized, which allows you to grab the clothing of your opponent to apply choke holds, joint locks and various Judo throws or takedowns. No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu focuses on submission grappling along with wrestling techniques without the Gi.
All classes will follow a structured training plan curriculum. Classes start with a warm up consisting of movement drills and stretching exercises to prepare and loosen the body for physical activity but also to help prevent injuries. The instructor will then demonstrate standup and ground techniques which you will practice drilling with a partner. The final part of the class will be the “rolling” (sparring). Like sparring in other martial arts, “rolling” helps identify opportunities for improvement, work on strengths and advantages, and continually practice and improve the techniques that require attention.
